A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a professional accountant who has met the educational and experience requirements set by the state in which they practice. CPAs are licensed by the state and are held to a higher standard of professional conduct than non-CPAs. CPAs in Melbourne must be registered with the Victorian Board of Accountants and Auditors (VBAA) and must meet all of the requirements set forth by the board. To become a CPA in Melbourne, an individual must have a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, a minimum of two years of experience in public accounting, and must pass the Uniform CPA Examination. Additionally, CPAs must complete a minimum of 40 hours of continuing professional education every two years in order to maintain their license.
